Virus/Worm detected! HELP!!!
I am in dire need of some help and quick! My computer at home suddenly has a worm and virus detected. The funny thing is that it keeps going back to a webpage for Antivirus Suite! It keeps telling me that I have to purchase that software and it wont let me go anywhere else on my computer. I cannot get to any of my files. I have Avast antivirus and I can run a scan but it wont let me do anything else. How do I get rid of this stupid thing! I have tried accessing items on my control panel, and it clicks on and off. I have tried a system restore and same thing!! I cannot access my programs at all! Yet each time I try the stupid antivirus page for the Antivirus Suite comes back! It says that they are endorsed by Microsoft and Windows and I can't imagine it to be true! I am currently at a friends house since my computer is on the fritz!! Help me please and ASAP! Thank you!

Try getting to my site, I have the Malicious Software removal tool right on the main page. Use it and replace Avast with the Microsoft Security Essentials. Then scan your system every day at 2 AM. Set the automatic scans. You might need to remove the hard disk to scan it with the Malicious Software Removal tool from another machine. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! IT/Developer, Windows/Linux/Mainframe RaidMax Smilodon, 680W, Asus M2NBP-VM CSM, AMD X2 4200+, 2GB DDR2-800, HD2400 Pro, more details on my site, need a new boot disk, existing one is 5 years old

Here is the link to download Microsoft Security Essentials. When the installation is completed, please upgrade the virus definition and restart the machine in Safe Mode, and then run a complete scanning. Thanks, Novak

On powerup/restart hold down or Tap F8 key to get into Setup/Recovey menu where 2 options are available to you: 1) Select Last Known Good option and if it stops the pop ups you **first should uninstall any anti virus software you have then download Security Essentials & do full scan on disk(s).2) If 1) was nogo, select Safe Boot option which will do minimal windows start and should disable virus pop ups so that you can do ** above.
