Virtual Wifi and NAC
This question is more hypothetical, since we really won't know what will come of Virtual Wifi until we have something to test with, but I work at a univeristy in New York City. The building is a vertical campus with a main wireless infrastructure throughout. The network is controlled by NAC (Aruba Systems). The problem that I might imagine is that someone with Windows 7 with virtual wifi adapters could also pick up wireless from some of the department-controlled networks (i.e. there's a biology lab down the hall from the IT department's labs) that also use NAC as their security. How would Virtual Wifi cope with connecting with two networks, both of which will make a connection because NAC is generally set as unsecured, but are both blocked by separate NAC? I know for an IT-savvy person, it would be a matter of dropping the network for which they don't have access to. However, I'm worried about the help desk being flooded by normal users who have virtual wifi turned on with the promise of a faster internet. Some of my coworkers may have other network-related inquiries regarding Windows 7 and Virtual Wifi, but this is currently my main concern because like I said, there's a biology lab down the hall from the computer labs with a separate network, and that happens to be where the help desk is situated and where my desk resides :P

Hi, Thank you for your post. This is Windows Vista support forum here, considering that the question is related to Windows 7, it is better to discuss this in Windows 7 forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/w7itpro Regarding Virtual Wifi, I would also like to share the following information with you: Microsoft Research Virtual WiFi http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/994abd5f-53d1-4dba-a9d8-8ba1dcccead7/ Thanks.
