Virtual Machine set low
At times I've gotten a simular message,is there antthing I can do to improve the preformance of Virtual memory without having to dedicate more of my Harddrive to the use of virtual memory? Such a third party program or plug-in type or Active-X download to give a more efficent use of the Virtual Machine?1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,I would recommend you to run a Disk Cleanup and Defragmentation. To find them, click on Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools. You need to free up some spaces by deleting unwanted files or uninstalling unused application programs.I do hope this helps.

aside from doing a GOOD disk cleanup and defrag you should change the virtual memory setting to SYSTEM CONTROLLED and forget it.let it do its thing and quit worrying about it. if you really do not have enough disk space, then consider upgrading the hard drive or adding a second one and move data files over to the new one. freeing space on the primary. <MARQUEE bgColor=#ffff00 height=22 behavior=alternate width="35%" scrollAmount=2 scrollDelay=9>Email removed for privacy</MARQUEE> "Super Tech" wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy .com...At times I've gotten a simular message,is there antthing I can do to improve the preformance of Virtual memory without having to dedicate more of my Harddrive to the use of virtual memory? If you're referring to another thread - which one? - there is no static index to refer to in the HTML interface, so what you and I see are two different things. -- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC

That what virtual memoy is made from by using harddisc space as memory for loaded programs that use more than installed ram the only thing that stays in ram is the intial program start-up after that it's up to the harddrive to the rest not enough space on the harddrive and the Virtual Machine can't do it's part, and you get an error message like mine is set at 1000mb initial and 4000mb allicated and with some 3D programs it just isn't enough. Autodesk and 3-D motion enchanced design checks really put a strain on memory RAM and virtual. For a Mechanial Designer and Engineer Freak like me I use an unusual amount of tear sheets when this happens. So I've learned not to be completely dependent on a PC for all my design work.

From what little I can understand of your post, you have no real idea what the difference between physical RAM, available RAM, and Page RAM is.You certainly have no idea what to do about the OP's problem. -- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC
