Video card recommendations
I'm about to upgrade an older PC to Windows 7 and I need to update the video card in order to be able to run Win 7. So can anyone recommend a good AGP 8x video card that works well with Win 7? -- Roy Smith Windows 7 Professional

You might to change the video card to get some Windows 7 features, but you certainly don't need to do it just to run Windows 7. > So can anyone recommend a good AGP 8x video card that works well with Win 7? -- Roy Smith Windows 7 Professional Ken Blake

If the PC only has an AGP graphics slot you would do better with a new PC or upgrade the motherboard to one with Windows 7 compatible integrated graphics and a new processor and memory.

Hi, I suggest running Windows 7 upgrade advisor to check the hardware's compatibility on the computer. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b544e90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15&displaylang=en For Windows 7 compatible sound card, please find it from the following website: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx Hope it helps. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi rasmith, nVidia supports the GeForce 6 series and forward with drivers for Windows 7. AMD\ATI supports the Radeon HD 2xxx, 3xxx, and 4xxx with drivers for Windows 7. Both in AGP. Aero supported. You do hit a point where the gpu's are only available in PCI-e. You should be able to get any of those at a reasonable price.

rasmith59 One of my sons is still using an ATI HD3650 and it is doing fine with windows 7 ultimate. This is not a card for serious gaming. The frame rates will not be anything in comparison to a card like the ATi 4870 or a GeForce 285 Both of which we also have in other units. There are later cards available that will probably do better. This card is over 2 years old. But I was still amazed at the performance of the card and it is visually great. Also have HD3860PCI-e and the 3650 outprfoms it although running same games on an I7 920 machine. Just because it is PCI-e does not mean that it is outright better. Try to run as much system ram as you can. It will make a difference.
