Very Slow Internet Connection Windows 7 Build 7100 RC
I'm experiencing very slow internet connection speeds on my machine i had just built using the W7 RC. I tried disabling the IPv6 from the adapter properties and also reset the ipconfig but still the problem remains. I also installed Chrome to isolate the problem being IE8 - thats not the case either. The device drivers look OK. Otherwise W7 looks beautiful and works well too.Skandy

1. This should marginally speed it up. Click the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings Look for two keys in the right pane, MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server. If they exist, then right-click on each in turn and Modify the value to decimal 10 (hex a). If the strings don't exist in the right pane they will need to be added manually. To add the two keys, right-click in the white space in the right pane, select New > DWORD Value, type the first name as the string name, press Enter and then repeat the procedure for the second one. Now modify the values to decimal 10 (hex a). As the registry key is a CURRENT_USER one, the change needs to be done for each user of the computer. 2. Also, turn off 'RSS Feeds' by going to Internet Options > Content > Feeds > Settings and uncheck Automatically check feeds for updates.

Yes I had slow internet but since I turned off Windows update my internet flies. Glad it did work too as I really like 7 and couldn't face going back to Vista. Hope this helps.

Yes, It seems that Windows update is the culprit here. I had the same problem. I have 7MB Download speed and was getting speeds at about 1.5MB. I turned off Windows Update and Downloading at 6.8MB now.

Thank you! This really helped speed things up. Still having issues with staying connected though. Have any advice?
