Vaio running Windows 7 freezing
First off, let me just say that I have no idea if this is the right place for this question, I have never posted here before :x if not could someone please move this or point me in the right direction? On to the actual question. About 5 months ago, I purchased a Sony Vaio VPCEE23FX. Up until this morning, I have had absolutely no issues with it what so ever, hardware or otherwise. I was using it up until about 3 in the morning last night writing a paper and listening to music, and when I was finished, I closed it, put it in my backpack, and walked back to my dorm. However, when I woke up this morning and turned it on, I was only able to move the mouse for about 10-15 seconds before the computer froze. At first I thought it might just be the mousepad, so I plugged in my USB mouse-- still nothing. The keyboard would not work, either-- I was unable to get the light indicating the number lock was turned on. I cold booted the computer as I had no other choice and noticed that the green light indicating the computer was powered on would not go out until I removed the battery. Since then, I have tried booting from my external linux Ubuntu drive to run a virus scan (to no avail), booting in safe mode and running a scan *I will return to this), two system restores-- one back 4 days, the other two weeks. Both slightly increased the amount of time it took for the screen to freeze. Safe mode seems to run alright-- midway through the virus scan, however, it froze as well. I have also checked the drives on my computer which found no issues. During one of my attempts to system restore, I got as far as to be able to open Google Chrome, which told me that my profile could not be loaded because it was a newer version of something to that regard, and a popup from my task bar told me that c:\\ needed to be checked for consistency. That was before I ran the disk check, however. I don't understand how it could be fine last night, and not in the morning. I have tried everything that I've ever used to fix my computers before, and it hasn't worked. I'm truly at a loss here and pissed off at the fact that I payed 500 dollars for a laptop that is crapping out on me 5 months later. Someone, PLEASE help?
