VSS Errors - Unable to Create System Restore Points
I have been trying to create system restore points without any success in Windows 7. I get a error popup window when I select System Protection that states, "There was an unexpected error in the property page. System restore encountered an error (0x81000203). I did re-partition my drive at some point using Windows 7 tools. I also look in the events file error and found the following: Volume Shadow Copy Service information: The COM Server with CLSID {65ee1dba-8ff4-4a58-ac1c-3470ee2f376a} and name SW_PROV cannot be started. [0x80110802] Operation: Obtain a callable interface for this provider Obtaining provider management interface Context: Provider ID: {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5} Class ID: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} Snapshot Context: -1 Event ID: 13 The other error I get is as follows: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error creating the Shadow Copy Provider COM class with CLSID {65ee1dba-8ff4-4a58-ac1c-3470ee2f376a} [0x80110802]. Thanks for any help.

I have exactly the same issue as BenyAndTheJets we are both on Windows 7 but this article refers only to Windows Server 2008. The registry key mentioned is however there and correct. I am unable to run MS Backup or create/use restore points so this is really urgent for me. Any further ideas?
