VSS Error Mesage when running File Backup
Right after the backup job starts, the following message is generated in the error log. Additionally, when I click on the Properties for a file and select Previous Versions, I am told that "There are no previous versions available". System Restore is enable for the drive in question, and Diskeeper shows the drive as VSS enabled. I do not see this file in my computer - did a start menu search - not found. Ran Command Prompt as Admin - no such command. Note - should the VSS Shadow Copy service be starting automatically? I just look - it is set to automatic, but is not running. I also looked at some files that I update frequently during the day - there are no previous versions available. Event log shows entry - "The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout. " I am continuing to get the event log entry shown in my original post approximately 30 seconds after my nightly file backup kicks off. Found a post on another forum - problem appears to be linked to using the MOZY app for off site backups. I ran a Win 7 backup and the error did not appear. I ran a MOZY backup and it did. The MOZY backup did complete successfully and I am able to see the backed up files. However, I still do not see Previous Versions in file properties. I will open a new thread for this problem.
