VPN setup chooses modem, when I chose Internet
I'm trying to setup a VPN connection, and even though I chose "use my Internet connection" and I specified a valid IP address, when the connection is created, it is set to use my modem.I'm very confident I clicked through the UI correctly, I even verified the steps with some other walk-throughs.I have even disabled the modem, and re-created the connection and it still chose to use a modem, that it said was "missing".I also checked out the Dial-up VPN path, just to see it, and it is clearly different as it has prompts for phone numbers and such.

Hi Ken, I am having the exact same issue, have created the same VPN on several machines, gone to set it up on a new laptop and i get the same. Tried setting it up through internet options as well. Same issue. Only difference is that this machine is not on the domain. Andrew

more details:Win7 Home Premium, fully updated from MSnot joined to the domain I followed the basic instructions to start the VPN setupOpen the Connect to a Workplace wizard by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click Network and Sharing Center, click Set up a connection or network, and then click Connect to a workplace. From there:it prompted to create a new connection or use my existing WWAN card (new since I started this thread, my WWAN card arrived). I chose create newTHen it prompted the IP adddress of my VPN connection, I filled that out, and left the other 3 checkboxes emptyThen it prompted for my username, password and domain I filled out the username and password then clicked Connect. Originally, I just entered the username, without a domain prefix. The connection created clearly indicated it was trying to use standard modem. Today, in going through the steps to document it, I filled in the username with the domain prefixed "domain\username" it then proceeded to correctly use my internet connection
