VPN problem Windows 7
I have Windows 7 Professional installed and all my VPN was working fine until last week. I first connect to VPN, then, start a SSH session with any other server using a tool like PUTTY, after 30 seconds (more or less) the connection with target server is lost. I think that it is related to security. Maybe Windows Update have installed something that is blocking my VPN. I have already tried to disable Firewall and my Norton Anti-Virus but it didn't work. I have also tried to uninstall some Windows Security patches but it didn't work either. Please, I need some help urgently with this issue. Tks, Paulo

Hi, To troubleshoot the issue, please perform the following steps. 1. Start the machine and boot in Clean Boot to check the result. 2. Perform a System Restore before the problem occurs. However, if the issue persists, please capture the error message and upload it here for research. Thanks, Novak

Checkout http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7network/thread/55c0cb9b-256b-428e-941f-597dd54aa0f4 -Can you validate that the VPN connection you are making from the same location but on a different machine? That will help determine whether or not the fault is with your WAN/LAN connection or on the machine it self. -Have you tried deleting and recreating the VPN?

Hi, Have you tried my above suggestions? If not, please take your time to perform a System Restore to check the result. If the issue persists, I suggest you restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and recreate the VPN connection, and then connect it again. If there is any error message, please post here for research. Thanks, Novak

I'm using the Windows 7 VPN. It is not a Cisco or Checkpoint VPN. It is a sinple Windows VPN. My windows is 32bit. I have tried to re-create the VPN in safe mode and it didn't work anyway. I have tried to restore my Windows but didn't work neither. Please help! Sometimes the VPN crashes with Error 800 number. I can see some alerts in My Window Events about Security-SPP and RasClient. Is that something about it that could be blocking my VPN? Tks, Paulo.

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to share you the following article to troubleshoot the error. VPN Error 800 If the issue still occurs, please upload the Event log to the Skydrive ( www.skydrive.live.com ). Collect Event log ========================= a. Click "Start", input "eventvwr" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter. b. Right click on "Application" on the left frame, choose "Save Log file As"; in the pop-up window, click to choose the Desktop icon on the left frame, input "app" in the "File name" blank, and then click save. c. Right click on "System", with the same method, save it as "sys". d. Locate the two saved log files on the Desktop and upload them. Thanks. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, Based on my research, I suggest you refer to the following steps to create a new VPN connection. 1.Click Start button --> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Share Center --> Click "Set up a new connection or network" under the "Change your networking settings". 2.Select " Connect to a workplace" and click Next --> Use my internet connection (VPN) --> Type the internet address and destination name in the box --> Check 'Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later' and click Next --> Enter your VPN username and password --> Then click the 'Create' button --> Click the 'Close' button to finish. If the issue persists, please also refer to the suggestions from the link below: Troubleshooting common VPN related errors Thanks, NovakPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
