VPN issues with Windows 7 Pro
I recently upgraded from XP Pro to WIndows 7 Pro and I am now unable to connect to the various sites using the built in VPN client. I have configured everything normally but I keep getting error 812 at the verifying username/password screen. I have set the VPN up to use PPTP otherwise I get forced into a WAN miniport connection which will not work. I know the error is authentication related but I am not sure how to track down the cause of the error. I did find another thread where they mentioned encryption levels but am not sure if that is my issue. ANy help would be appreciated as this is seriously impacting my ability to function at my job.

You would need to know the settings on the other end.under your VPN connection properties you will find the settings for CHAP / encryption and so on.

I did check it with one site and I had everything configured correctly but it would still throw the authentication error. I have set it to use MS-CHAP v2 which is supported on the VPN server but still get authentication incompatibility error.I am finding out that there is not a lot of info on the web yet about windows 7.
