Hi, Firstly, may I know how you setup the VPN connection and what changes have been made before the issue occurred. I understand that the current issue is that the VPN could not be disconnected and the Internet connections failed. At this time, I want to know how you force disconnect the VPN and how you let the Internet connections work again. I also checked the Event Log and found the following issues: 1. WLAN Extensibility Module encountered an error. 2. Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered issues. 3. The error The DNS proxy agent was unable to allocate 0 bytes of memory. This may indicate that the system is low on virtual memory, or that the memory manager has encountered an internal error. received. 4. The error TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent (incomplete) TCP connect attempts. received. 5. IPv6 encountered issues. 6. DCOM service got the 1068 error. 7. Network List Service failed to start. And please refer to the following suggestions: 1. Please check if your NICs (both wired and wireless) are working properly. Please reinstall the drives and try to upgrade its driver if it is available. 2. A TPM is a microchip designed to provide basic security-related functions, primarily involving encryption keys. The TPM is usually installed on the motherboard of a computer or laptop, and communicates with the rest of the system using a hardware bus. Since the TPM encountered an error, please check the hardware issue with the manufacture of the chipset (computer). For more information about the TPM, please refer to the following: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749022.aspx 3. Regarding the error The DNS proxy agent was unable to allocate 0 bytes of memory. This may indicate that the system is low on virtual memory, or that the memory manager has encountered an internal error. Please check the following: Are using or enabled ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)? If so, please try to disable it to troubleshoot the problem. Mostly, the issue could be caused by ICS. 4. With regard to the error TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent (incomplete) TCP connect attempts., this event is a warning that a malicious program or a virus might be running on the system. To troubleshoot the issue, find the program that is responsible for the failing connection attempts and, if the program might be malicious, close the program as follows. To close the program: 1) At the command prompt, type Netstat no 2) Find the process with a large number of open connections that are not yet established. These connections are indicated by the TCP state SYN_SENT in the State column of the Active Connections information. 3) Note the process identification number (PID) of the process in the PID column. 4) Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and then click Task Manager. 5) On the Processes tab, select the processes with the matching PID, and then click End Process. If you need to select the option to view the PID for processes, on the View menu, click Select Columns, select the PID (Process Identifier) check box, and then click OK. 5. Please disable the IPv6 since you dont use it. 6. please perform a Clean Boot to check the service issue. Clean boot ================= 1) Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window. 2) Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3) Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. NOTE: we can go back to normal boot by running msconfig again and checking on Normal Startup in the General tab. In the Clean Boot Environment, please check following services: COM+ EVENT System Service Network List Service Network Location Awareness Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service 7. Create a BAT file with the following commands and run it with Administrator permission: ---------------------@echo offsc config winmgmt start= disablednet stop winmgmt /y%systemdrive%cd %windir%\system32\wbemfor /f %%s in ('dir /b *.dll') do regsvr32 /s %%sregsvr32 %windir%\system32\tscfgwmi.dllwmiprvse /regserver winmgmt /regserver net start winmgmt------------------------- Note: after creating the Bat file, please right-click on it and select Run as Administrator to run it. Hope this helps. Nicholas Li - MSFT

I installed Vista from scratch and installed Visual Studio Team System and Virtual PC, messenger, skype, Lenovo management tools and several over not network applications. I setted up VPN connection with Vista Vizard and I did not use third party applications.1. I have Intel Wireless Pro 3945ABG. I checked latest version driver from Device Management (MMC tool) and it was latest.2. Hmm... I do not need enable TPM. I found information on Lenovo site than i can leave with it. 3. I did not use ISC cause I connect to work server and not to the internet. I do not need share my work network for everybody. I checked all connections and they do not have ISC enabled.4. Virtual PC with Windows CE 6.0, FxCOP (Microsoft code optimization tool) and Skype tried create much network connections. 5. I disabled IPv6 for all connections. Why Vista enable it by default if it makes problems? VPN become more stable.6. It did not take effects except of Lenovo management tools stopped working7. I will do that.

Hi, Thank you for your response. At this time, please try the following suggestions: 1. Please refer to the following Knowledge Base to check the issue and apply the update. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;930163 If this didnt solve it, please update Windows Vista using Windows Update. 2. I noticed that you may connect VPN via the wireless Network connection. Please try to connect it to a wired Network and access the VPN to check if it works. 3. Regarding the Event ID 10002, it may be related to the Module IWMSSvc.dll which is included in the Intel Wireless NIC driver. Therefore, I suspect the issue is still related to the wireless Nic driver. The issue can be caused by the factor that the Device Driver didnt work properly. I suggest fully removing the Intel Wireless NIC driver and reinstall it again to see if it works. Please go to the Control Panel to remove the driver if it exists. We can also try to reinstall the Intel Wireless NIC driver in Device Manager: 1) Click Start, right click Computer and choose Properties. 2) Click Device Manager. 3) Navigate to your Intel Wireless NIC. 4) Please check whether this device has a exclamation mark. 5) Right click on it and choose Uninstall. If there is a check box Delete the driver software for the device., please also check it and click OK. 6) Reboot the computer and reinstall the driver. You can also boot to the clean boot stat to reinstall the driver. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 For your reference, here is the driver for Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG from the Intels site: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2259 Since the issue is hardware related, it is also recommended that you involve Intel technical support regarding the issue. Hope this helps. Nicholas Li - MSFT Nicholas Li - MSFT
