I am trying to connect to my work network from home using VPN with Windows 8.1. I have my notebook with Windows 7 setting right beside the new notebook that has 8.1. I have no problem connecting with my old notebook but can't get the notebook with 8.1 to connect using the same settings. Always get error code 691. Any ideas?

Is this a 3rd party VPN app ? 

go to Control Panel > Network & Internet > Network Connections, then under Properties for the VPN, go to Security tab and ticked the MS-CHAP v2 box, restart PC and reconnect the VPN

I also suggest your to update network driver (include Bluetooth). And try also make sure that VPN support with Windows 8.1
