VPN Error 800, suddenly getting this, CAN telnet to server's port 1723, VPN connection is NOT even trying.
Suddenly getting VPN Error 800 on Windows XP Home. I've deleted the connection and rebuilt it with the wizard. I can telnet to the server's port 1723. My (XP Pro) laptop can connect no problem. Using Ethereal, I can see that NO packets leave the computer when I try to establish the connection--something inside the PC is stopping the attempt. Windows Firewall is off. There WAS a change, the IP address of the server changed. But other co-workers had not trouble when they changed over, and also my laptop can connect fine to the new address. It's only the desktop machine that doesn't. And it's not even TRYING. No outgoing TCP packets. Is there some log file somewhere I can look at to see what prevented the outgoing connection? The lack of logs, lack of verbosity, generic errordrives me crazy. Would be nice if itsaid "VPN Error 323847242: You've got a certain box ticked here and need to untick it."My wife really needs this fixed for her telecommute and I'm hurting, ready to reinstall Windows to make this work it's so important. She's using a laptop I borrowed from my work to get in for now. Thanks!2 people need an answerI do too
