VISTA aborts backup to DVD
3 or 4 times now, I started an automatic backup using Vista's backup function. It starts and backs up without issues. At the end of the 4th DVD, as with the first three I am asked to insert another DVD and label it with todays date and Disk #1. I insert a blank DVD, Vista formats it although I already formatted the DVD prior to this and completes the backup. Except no files were placed on the DVD. The following week when backup starts, the DVD is still in the drive from the previous backup, the file information needed to continue the backup is not found and I'm asked to insert the last DVD or use a new blank one. The last DVD which is full but doesn't have the file closing info is rejected, the 4th DVD which was inserted last week doesn't have the info so I am left to use a blank DVD. I put it in, follow the instructions, the backup seems to complete (I get the message backup completed successfully) but it too is blank forcing me to start an entire new system backup series. As I noted earlier, this has happened 3 or 4 times now. I have 3 active users on the system. Drive C: is the only one being backed up. Drive E: is used for temporary storage. Processor is Intel Duo E6550, MoBo is Intel DG33BU. 99GB of 298GB are used on the C: drive. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Hi, According to your description, it seems windows backup finds the DVD media already contains data. Have you try system restore to go back to previous good time to check how it works. Also, you could try to reinstall the CD drive to see what the result is. Meanwhile, as this forum focuses on issues related to Windows 7, it is also recommended to post at Windows Vista forum for further help.
