Hi guys, Im new to this site and to vista, but the more I get into it the more I love it. (and I wasn't trying to be smart with nickname, just ran out of ideas, seen it there and whataya know noone else had it!) Ok.. to start off I'll give you the spec's:Com with internetDell e521Windows Vista Business USB Cable ModemMcafee security center 07 Com without internetHPWindows XP homeMcafee security center 07 I dont think you need the full com specs but just ask if you do, Ok, I've been mucking around with this for about 2 days now and well....First off, I'll tell you what I want, Internet coming through the USB modem, into the dell then shared through the LAN to HP. At First I had Problems even geting them to reconize each other, much after much research I changed settings and installed LLTD or whateva and I could see each computer, but I could only access files with firewall off, I could even play battlefield 2 over lan. But the whole time this is happening its still got "limited connectivity" on both coms. Also the XP com cant get the internet. Now on the dell with vista, under network connections I've got 2 LANs, one is the usb modem labled "bigpond" (myISP) and the other is "unidentified" which cant be changed, workgroup names are the same, if I go to propertys, sharing tab, tick "allow other users to connect through" bla bla, everything resets, and they both become unIdentified and I can't connect to the internet YUCK!!. So I reset com, sorts its self out but i cant connect to internet on HP com. Now, I dont know nothing about this but I try'd "bridge network" thing but I thinks its what im after because az I'll show you soon mcafee and vista pick up both coms and it should work, but you guessed it, IT DOESNT!!! But I feel like im so close to resolveing this problem, I think these screenshots will help you under stand Bottom left is the network map, looks promising Here is the mcafee layout With this setup, there is no "limited connectivty" on either com, mcafee reconizes the the other com as well. But Still no internet on XP com, I thinkthis is a firewall problem, because I still have disable it to acces files on either com, Also check this, It is the mcafee network map from the XP COM One more thing, if I dissconect my bigpond cable login (provided by my ISP) on the dell vista com, I can login on the XP com and surf the net no probs. So obvously its all connected but somethings missing?Thanks in advance fo any help offered, my brain is fried
