Using msconfig to disable startups in Windows XP
When I uncheck startups in msconfig and click Apply or OK I get an Access Denied error and that I "need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specified changes." I have an Administratrator account. I even have set up an account named Administrator with a new password, but I get the same message. I can add and delete programs. Any suggestions?

That message is relatively common. It usually refers to a service but msconfig does disable all programmatic startup items. If the items on the startup tab are all unchecked I wouldn't be too concerned about it.--"Brian1941" wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...When I uncheck startups in msconfig and click Apply or OK I get an Access Denied error and that I "need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specified changes."
