Using a CD drive across the network
I have a PC running Windows XP Home, and I want to access the CD drive on that machine from another PC in my home which runs Windows 7 Ultimate. I have made the CD drive available as a Share and it can be seen from my Windows 7 PC, but when I try to access it's contents, I get a message saying: Device is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process ths command. Can you please help?

Hi Shahrok_MT I couldn't reproduce all the message from your failure. The message shows when there was no cd on the unit of the unit is open. Please: verify the CD Drive if you can read something from your Windows XP machine or if the media is working well. I couldn't reproduce the message "Not enough server storage to process this command". The only references in Technet are for Windows NT 3.51. Do you have any error messages in the System Event Viewer? Alfredo ArizaletaDisclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no express or implied warranties or rights.

Hi, I would like to confirm that can you access the other sharing files in Windows XP Home Edition from Windows 7? I would like to suggest you change the restrictanonymous value to 0 (Zero) under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] and increate the IRPStackSize value under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters] to troubleshoot the issue.
