Using RDP to connect to a Windows 7 pc...
On Windows XP, when I would remote in from home to my work pc, all the windows and apps I had running would still be up and running. Since upgrading to Windows 7, that is not the case. When I remote in, it's like I just signed in new. Once I get everything up and running, if I disconnect and reconnect, everything is closed again. I used to just X out of the RDP session so all my stuff would stay up and running.

Dear JMcElvoy, Could you please verify that the work PC isn't logged off already? (sb at your workplace might've done this) Also, has this problem occurred more than once? Finallly, are you using the built in RDP program? Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Also ensure you are logging in with the same credentials that you log in with at work. Sometimes if a system is set to log on automatically (usually not the case in a corporate environment) you may not be sure what the username is that it is using. By default Windows 7 has you create a separate account in addition to the "administrator" account (using your name) and sets that account to the default for login. If you then log in with "administrator" remotely, you're actually logging in as a different user. Also, try adding the /admin flag when you launch the remote desktop app (Start->Run "mstsc /admin"
