It means that the definitions are not fully updated. Open Microsoft Security Essentials, click on the Updates tab, and click the Update button.Rich Prescott | Infrastructure Architect, Windows Engineer and PowerShell blogger | MCITP, MCTS, MCP Engineering Efficiency @Rich_Prescott Windows System Administration tool 2.0 AD User Creation tool

Hello JohnnayXP, Make very sure you are looking at Windows 7 Action Center. Windows-key >> Control Panel >> Action Center. In the Security block, click on down arrow & review what it says fo all lines. Especially for firewall, virus protection, spyware protection. Make sure UAC is on. Make very sure the "message" is not coming from a "rogue" program that may have slipped in recently. Close your Firefox and any other browsers. Start MSE, do an Update run, then a quick scan. Follow that up with the MS Safety Scanner http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx to get another check. As a sidebar, make sure you are current with Windows Update. and also, in Firefox, use the Help >> About to make sure that FF is current.Maurice Naggar ~ MVP (Oct 2002 - Sept 2010)

Thanks very much Niki I completed your suggestions, The MSE found no infections; the MS Safety Scan also found no infections. The Security centre ("action centre" in your words) states that all are "ON". The issue appears to be resolved and I am very grateful!! Regards JohnJohn hay
