Using CheckPoint VPN

I have set up a VPN client based on Windows 8.1 CheckPoint VPN. After the set up, the connection connected without any problem. After restart however, tried the connection again, and this time it didn't connect, and it even cause my wifi connection to the network to be disconnected.

I have to disable the wifi and re-enable it again and get the wifi to be connected, then I have to disable the VPN connection, and re-enable it again. Then the VPN connection worked. I have to repeat the steps everytime I want to use the VPN connection.

Any idea why? Am I missing something in the set up?

I would rather have the solution to the the VPN problem by having a fix or workaround to it. I want to avoid installing a third party software for now. In fact, I do have a Check Point version of software which can be installed separately from the one provided with 8.1.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
