Users cannot log into all server drives with Win 7
We have Win 2008 server on the server at our school. All users, teachers & students, log in with specific user names. Students have permissions to 2 (all user)drives, plus their specific area in the 'student' drive. In Win XP, students are able to access & save to all 3 drives (including their specific folder on the 'Student' drive). In Win 7, students are able to access the 2 'all user' drives, but their specific area on the 'Student' drive is not available. The 'Student' drive is not even available to them on the network. As administrator, while in Win 7, I have access to all drives, including my specific folder in the 'Teachers' drive. All teachers also have access to all drives, including their specific folder in the 'Teacher' drive, when logged in on Win 7. This seems to simply be a permissions problem, but I can not seem to find out how to give correct permissions to the students, so they can access & save to their folders in the 'Student' drive. The outside tech that comes to our school occasionally doesn't have any idea to the fix either. Any ideas? Thanks.Computer Teacher testing Vista

I suspect that you do not correctly configure the permission of the parents folders of the problematic folder. The students need the permission of read and execute for the parents folders. This should be a change in SMBv2 which is involved in Windows Vista\Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7\Windows Server 2008 R2 systems. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
