User show up twice after name change AD

Hello,

A new user was added in Ad having the wrong first name. An administrator changed this name and e-mail address three months ago. Somehow this user is listed twice in office Communicator when I search for this person. The second user has the status Presence Unknown and I see the wrong first name when I hover my mouse over this user. This problem came under my attention because another user sent en e-mail to this users yesterday and received the message back 'A configuration error in the recipient's e-mail system prevented delivery of this message.  Two recipients are configured with the same e-mail address.  Contact your administrator.' In Outlook and AD I only see this user once. I tried to send a test e-mail and it was successfully delivered. This user then told me that he shows up twice in Office Communicator. I checked this in my Office Communicator and it shows up twice indeed. The name change was done three months ago. I never contacted or mailed this user before.

I am surprised that my test e-mail is delivered successfully. On the other hand all settings (also SIP) are ok. I am more surprised that while I am searching for a solution and typing this question the second user is gone and I see only one user when I perform a new search. All is behaving correctly now. What could be the cause of this? The name change after all was three months ago! I checked with another colleague of mine who also never contacted this person before and when he performs a search for this user the user still show up twice...

Environment:

- OCS 2007 R2 on 2003R2 x64

- OC 2007 R2 on XP x86

Thanks in advance!

Just cached content, or broken replication in AD.

You can force refresh your OCS address book using this method: http://www.markc.me.uk/MarkC/Blog/Entries/2009/6/22_Force_Updating_the_OCS_Address_Book.html

Also, double check all of your AD servers to make sure replication is healthy.
