User rights for Parental Control management
Hi,I would like to give my son the ability toadminister his Win7 PC but I still want him to be unable to disable Parental Control. Is there the possibility to modify the user rights of an administrator account in order to forbidit to managethe Parental Control settings? Thanks in advance.

Hi Plo,We may not able to do this as administrator accounts have the permission to change Parental Control settings. Please let me know the reason you would like to give your son an admin account, we can check if there is any workaround.

Hi Shaon and thank you for your kind answer.I want my son to learn to manage his PC, even if he can possibly damage the Windows and need to reinstall it: I consider his PC as a lab. But I'm concerned about what he may possibly get intouch with on the network and I want to be able to monitor his online activities.Summarizing:totally free on a local basebut controlled when online.Thank you.

You may be able to elevate his local privileges (aka "Power User") as such so that he can performed installations of certain software, configuration of some settings (Printers), etc. This may enable him to test and learn but also prevent him from modifying settings such as Parental Control that are out of his hands. Now, before I go I must put on my soapbox hat for a minute and state that no user should ever work as an administrator account but as a less privileged normal user account. That being said, in an isolated environment where system update is not critical and changes can only affect one machine, your son may be able to get away with it.

Power User may be an option if you accept --- but if you need to give him an Admin permission, my only idea without using third party programat currently is to deny the computer on router ... as we will set a password for accessing router settings, he will not able to change the setting unless you give him the password. But this will cause an issue --- when you need to access internet on same computer, you will need to change the router setting every time.

After testing, I have another suggestion:Open Internet Explorer (IE), go to Tools --- Internet Options --- Content, click Enable, on Rating tab, move the slider to None, on General tab, click Create password to create a password. Click OK to apply settings. Now we will not able to use IE to access internet. However, this will only applied to IE so other programs will still able to access internet which do not need to load IE component. Tip: Maybe Firefox can access internet but I did not test it yet.

This may work but is a little bit excessive. I don't want to cut out my son from the rest of the world. I simply want to control him. After all I'm only trying to avoid tampering with parental control settings. There are plenty of Antivirus software that avoid even an administrator to change configuration with a simple password protection.Plo

Hi Plo,If there is any third party program can help us do this with a password, it will be fine to use it. AsI said, an admin account can do most things on system so we will need to use third party program to do the thing.Meanwhile you should test if an admin account can disable or remove the antivirus software~
