User account deleted when I uninstalled Office 2010 Beta, how do I get it back?
Details:I am using Windows XP Pro SP3 I had previously installed MS Office 2010 Beta. When I went to use it recently, I was informed the Beta period was over and I was given two options: 1) purchase Office 2010 or 2) uninstall it. I chose to uninstall. When I restarted the computer after the uninstall, my user account was deleted. Fortunately I had another user account with administrative access, but it's never/rarely been used, so when I open that account it's like staring at the desktop of a new computer. I can still see all my files on the C drive from the other account, but they're all read only files. I restarted the computer in safe mode at one point, with networking, and was able to see my old user account. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get it back permanently. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Hi, It might be that the user account registry key is deleted that is responsible to show the user account name in the login screen. I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below. Step 1:I would suggest you to do a system restore on the computer and check whether you are able to see the user account again. How to restore Windows XP to a previous statehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 Step 2:I would suggest you to boot into the other user account that you have never used before and then delete the Office 2010 from the system by referring the article given below. How do I uninstall Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office 2010 suites if I cannot uninstall it from Control Panel?http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Thank you and Regards.
