User Accounts not Recognized by PC????
I have full access to User Accounts in XP. I can add, delete, change, add pic, etc. I created an limited account for my wife. I can see it in the USER ACCOUNT box, along with my admin account and a guest account (turned off). The problem is when I attempt to log off my admin account, I get a pop up box asking if I am sure I want to log off. There is no opportunity to switch accounts. If I do a shutdown, my account is the only account on the welcome screen when I reboot. I have also created an admin account for her. I have created both limited and admin accounts using default icons and photos I provided. I have created both types of accounts with the guest account both on and off. Nothing works. ONLY my account shows on the start up screen and I have no opportunity to switch accounts. I need to be able to provide her account in addition to mine.On a possibly related issue, my computer has a Backdoor.Tidserv!inf virus which can't be removed without the Windows Recovery Console disc. That disc was never provided with this computer. Is there a way to remove w.o. the disc?Thanks1 person needs an answerI do too

There is no point in trying to do any user account troubleshooting on such a severely infected machine. You must clean it up first. The best thing to do would be to back up your data and restore your computer to factory condition. If you have a branded OEM computer (Dell, HP, etc.) contact the OEM's tech support and purchase recovery discs. This is normally quite inexpensive, around $25-50.If you are unable or unwilling to do that, then get advanced guided help from one of the specialty forums listed below where you can find MS MVPs and other trained analysts. Choose one of them, register, read its posting FAQ, follow the forum's directions. Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. If possible, have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
