User Accounts, anti virus programs and system restore
Hi,My XP Home has decided not to allow me to see the user accounts, when I click to go into the accounts I get a blank page, nothing else. This coupled with my system restore that now refuses to show anything also. I have also experienced an issue with trying to activate my anti-virus software, I can enter the key but the button does not respond, I have tried Housecall and I can get to the "I agree with the above etc" and click it to proceed, but there are no terms and conditions so it will not let me continue. I have tried to replace the drive contents with an image from Seagate tools, I keep getting errors from the image when trying to restore it, but checking the integrity of the image without trying to overwrite windows results in a positive result.Does anyone have any ideas what is occuring?I would appreciate any help or advice that can be given.ThanksSteve1 person needs an answerI do too

If I understand your post correctly you are still able to boot windows xp but, receive those errors when attempting to perform the stated actions. For now I would not attempt to burn the cloned image. I think this can be resolved by other means. Have you attempted to perform a system restore using safe mode with command prompt? If not, follow the instructions on the link below to do so. If you have tried this already let me know and I will supply you with another method of system restore from a disc. How to start the System Restore tool by using the safe mode option with the Command prompt in Windows XPI don't vote for myself I'm not here for the points. I have something that sounds similar."Patient" has Windows XP Prof w/Sp3. Was using McAfee, but, things have slipped thru, on other McAfee "protected" pcs. Replaced McAfee with Sophos. Ran Full scan. Didn't find anything. One of the "symptoms" is that when you go to Search or User Accounts, a Frame opens, with the name (Search or User Accounts), but, inside the frame, is just a Blank, white space. Nothing to click on.Another "symptom", is, that you go into IE7, and click on Tools, then, Manage Add-ons. Nothing comes up.The pc is set for Welcome Screen login. Wanted to try to login as Administrator, but, no choice for alternate user id.Want to do a System Restore, but, won't come up. Tried starting it from Start/run command line. Nothing comes up, but Task Manager shows rstrui.exe running.NO error messages (user DID get a "do not have sufficient security privileges to restore your system." once).Would the Microsoft Fix it Center (still in Beta) be able to diagnose/fix this?
