User/NT 4 legacy logon script doesn't run on first logon on Windows 7
We are implementing Windows 7, and there currently exists a legacy NT4 logon script (definied in the user AD object). I've noticed on the very first logon to a machine (after it is joined to the domain), the logon script doesn't run on that first logon. Every time after that, it works, other users too. But that very first login of a domain user will not run that logon script, reliably. I have tried setting the run logon scripts asyncronously in an applied group policy, but it does not affect it (also that appears to determine whether it is run asyncronously or syncronously, but it running neither at first logon) I have run into this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2550944/en-us but that does not mention user based or netlogon scripts, only group policy based scripts. Any ideas?

This is more on the side or Windows Server and GPO. The first to come to my mind is modelling the resulting gpo and the second is the attribute Wait for network... It may be the property of this particular group policy setting. I recommend you to place the question in appropriate Windows Server forum. Alternatively you can ask in gpanswers forum which is dedicated to GPO. regards milos

Hi, May I know what OS version is your Domain Server? I suggest you recheck the script again. (Since NT4 script may be not exactly suit for your current Windows Server OS.) Youd better redirect to Script Center forum. Script Center forum. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ITCG/threads/ Ivan-Liu TechNet Community Support
