User's profile cannot load but default profile was loaded
Hello, On a network laptop, the user's profile did not load a message in the event viewer states "Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you with the default profile for the system." I configured the network profile in February and since then everytime I logged into the user's profile it has always loaded. Can someone help me on how to restore the user's profile to load and not the default profile? And to better understand how to prevent this from happening to other users, I would greatly appreciate it.

If you can, try doing a system restore to a date before this happened. Also, have a look here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215

I will give that a try as well as check that link out. Thanks That did not work, no restore points were created. I'm trying to delete the users's profile and create a new one but how do I do that with WIndows 7?

Create a new one first, AS AN ADMINISTRATOR via Control Panel > User Accounts. Copy any data over from the old one, but DON’T DELETE THE ACCOUNT until you’re satisfied everything is behaving properly, say, 4 or 5 days minimum.

I created a new profie but the Temporary profile is still loading. Is there any way to stop that from loading and letting the new one I created to configure the new desktop? It was loading the temporary profile when the user first enountered the issue.

Hi, Please also try the suggestions from the following article: A temporary profile is loaded after you log on to a Windows Vista-based system. Thanks, Novak

Hi, Please also try the suggestions from the following article: A temporary profile is loaded after you log on to a Windows Vista-based system. Thanks, Novak UPDATE: I finally found the way to recreate the profile. Yesterday I added a few changes to wallpaper, desktop shortcuts, etc --and it has been fine. So I started moving a few items over today, actually all and shut the laptop off for a bit. Powered it on, and behold..."Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you with the default profile for the system." So I immediately shut down and then started it backup and it loaded the correct profile. I Looked in the Event view and found a few messages: Log Name: ApplicationSource: Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles ServiceDate: 4/1/2010 2:44:26 PMEvent ID: 1530Task Category: NoneLevel: WarningKeywords: User: SYSTEMComputer: computername.com Description:Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. Hi, Based on my research, I found that the symptom is by design. For more information, please refer to the link below: Event ID: 1530 may be logged in the Application log on a Windows 7-based or Windows Vista-based client computer Please be sure that it does not mean the registry leak and the system is still secure. Thanks, Novak

I have had this issue on a Vista Enterprise laptop now for over a year and am now seeing the same exact issue on a Windows 7 Ultimate desktop. Fortunately (so far) all I need to do is reboot and the systems come back with the profiles normal. I have made an observation that seems to be true for both Operating systems. If I delay entering my password and pressing enter until after disk activity settles down I have not had this happen on either system. If I enter my password and press enter right away this will sometimes happen. I'm convinced there is a timing issue with a file that is not loading in the correct order or something like that since so far in both cases all I need to do is a reboot and the both systems are fine. It has never happened if I let the systems settle down before completing my login. Does any one have any thoughts? Thanks.

Looks like the issue has reoccurred again. I tried rebooting, removing the battery and discharging it and the temporary profile keeps loading. I tried a few other things and failed link from Brooks-bilson saving then deleting the .bak from the hkey_local_user....ImageProfilePath recreate user profile I noticed when I deleted the S-1...bak file it recreated a User folder "c:\users\username.domain.000"; i renamed the folder to see if it could realign the right profile to load, but it loaded a new folder. So I went back into the registry location...and in t he ImageProfilePath I changed the path from c:\users\username.domain.000 to the original profile. And THAT seemed to be successful and loaded the users profile. But to say it's a permanent resolution--not so confident, because I don't know what causes this. In the past I already recreated the profile and that obviously did not resolve the issue because it happened again. Do I need to start all over again and install Windows 7 64-bit again?!

we have found that if windows 7 loads the default profile... 1) open windows explorer 2) navigate to C:\users 3) double click the profile associated with the account you logged in with a) it will ask if you want to continue b) if the account is not an admin account, it will ask you for administrator password 4) log out 5) log back in and normal profile should

I won't be able to try this until next week when the user returns. I previously did a repair on Windows 7 and recreated the users profile and SID, but that did not seem to work. Is anyone else having this sort of issue? I'm considering reformatting.
