Used 'encrypt contents to secure data' on a notepad file without really knowing what it meant as I wanted to protect the document (it has all of my logins and official info).. now cant get into the file!
The computer had a virus and ever since a friend got rid of it the computer has been behaving weirdly. The most serious behaviour for me though is the fact I cant open a notepad file on my desktop that has all of my important info inside. It seems to recognise me as the logged in user but at the same time it doesn't.. My friends think I should wipe my pc and reinstall everything but I would like to save the info on the file if I can!1 person needs an answerI do too

Depending on what he did, at this point a cleanreinstallation may be your only choice. But before you do that, answerthe questions above.Ken Blake

If you do a clean install, you will NOT be able to recover the contents of the encrypted file. Please also report the complete text of the error message(s) you get when you attempt to access the file. -- Lem
