Use Software&Applications under Vista&Win7 / Synchronization
Hey thereI have some questions for using Software under Win7 and Vista with just one installation..First: I Using a HP Pavilion Notebook, I setup my System with a lot of Partition's, so i have Partition's for Vista, Win7, OpenSuse 11.1, a Partirion for Data and one for Linux Dataso.. called them in the following (A) for Vista, (B) for Win7 and (C) for Data PartitionMost Applications/Software for Windows, are needed for both System's (Vista and Win7), like Firefox, Thunderbird, alot of Securitysoftware (Avira Premium S. Suite "Beta", SpyBot S&D, HiJackThis, Malwarebytes, CCleaner ...), Mediasoftware (DivX, VLC ...) and a lot more.I wannt to install them just one Time under Partition (C) so i can use them under both System's.I think some things are not possible, so i can't install Antivirus and Firewall on (C) and use them for Vista&Win7. I need to install them separately under (A)&(B). Some of them are easy for using on both, just install them running Vista but on Partition(C) and link it under Win7 for starting. Benefits of all that are simply, u apair disc space, setting the preferences just one Time and use the same Application-preferences under Vista&Win7.If something isn't feasible (for example) u can do the synchronization with export the "data/preferences" under one System und import them under the other. Manually. But this show's some problems with preferences and recognition, using for standard programs or starting the task's on windows startup, bind in context menu and more.I think for the moment it will be bether to install all of them first running Vista. Because Win7 is just a Beta Version.Questions:- how can I bind an on (C) installed program (for example Thunderbird) on the List for "set standardprogram's "- how far is this possible / definitely not what, or only with considerable effort ?- how do I do this at all, specifically with Thunderbird ?- how can I do an automatic synchronization, (for example Firefox favorit's) are there tools available ?- there are existing forums and tutorials about this Theme, and if so where ?- what are your experiences ?Thanks anyway!*Sorry about my English*

Hi PSilocYbin That is a very complex setup you have there. Unfortunately, these questions go far beyond the focus of these beta forums.I would suggest that you post your questions on the following forums.Windows Vista IT ProHope this helps and good luck. Ronnie Vernon MVP
