Usbport.sys causing system restarts
Hi, I am having problems with my Windows 7 (x64) SP1 machine restarting randomly due to what looks like usbport.sys issues. I've included a zip of the minidump files here. You can see that I have about 25 dump files in total going back to July. The output from the latest dump file (100511-46129-01.dmp) using Windbg and the "!analyze -v" command is pasted here. I have also included a Belarc Advisor Report here. I did a search for "usbport.sys" on these forums, and found a link to a Microsoft KB article entitled "Binary files in some USB drivers are not updated after you install Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1". But after I downloaded the update, I ran it and received a message that I have already installed the update. In fact, I currently have installed all Windows updates. Any ideas on what is happening? How can I fix my machine so it doesn't randomly restart? Thank you. God bless David Hiran Watson e:hiranwatson@gmail.com

God bless David Hiran Watson e:hiranwatson@gmail.com Good the problem arises because spammers and pirates routinely harvest forum posts and links for things like Product Keys, and these then become tagged as abused at MS, and it can mean that your own (presumably perfectly legitimate) install gets tagged also as pirated, and this can create major problems for you. Feel free to save the Belarc output as a txt file and edit out ALL Product Keys (in the report as Software Licenses), then post a link to the uploaded file. Thanks Alex; what did you do to analyze the dump file and find the image name? I ran windbg and "!analyze -v" but the best I could see was that usbport.sys was the problem. God bless David Hiran Watson e:hiranwatson@gmail.com
