Upgrading to Win 7
Hello, Im looking at taking advantage of the current upgrade promotion for purchasing Windows 7 Professional. My laptop came with Vista Professional 32 bit and I would like to still be able to boot into Vista to use some of the pre-bundled software. It is my understanding that you can do a clean install with Windows 7 upgrade version and I was intending on putting it on another partition. (want to install 64 bit version). What will happen to my version of Vista on the other partition? Will it still be usable or will it become inactive as a result of using its licence to upgrade to Win 7? Currently running the RC on a separate partition and everything works fine so I know if need be I can just wait for the retail or OEM versions to come on sale....Thank you

Windows 7 Upgrade editions will only install on the same partition as the qualifying Windows partition. In order to dual-boot Windows Vista and Windows 7, you'll need to purchase a "full license" edition of Windows 7.Carey Frisch
