Upgrading from Forefront to Endpoint protection on Windows XP Professional
In Upgrading my Windows XP Professional machines from Forefront to Endpoint I get an error code of 0x80041002 on one of them. I've tried the article updated April 1, 2012 of "I can't install Endpoint Protection" and nothing has worked.  Since it removes forefront protection I now have no virus protection on this computer.  UGH What can I do now?

Hi,

Sorry for my understanding. What do you mean regarding from Forefront to endpoint?

FEP is a production which is one member of Forefront.

For installation error 0x80041002, you can refer to the similar article below:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/forefront/en-US/181530b6-7baf-4c3c-8141-9fae35d8a648/system-center-endpoint-protection-2012-installation-failure-code0x80041002?forum=FCSNext

Additionally, which way do you install your FEP, manually or SCCM?

I'm upgrading all our desk tops from Microsoft Forefront to Microsoft Endpoint protection.  This computer is the only one that wouldn't upgrade and gives me the error 0x80041002.  I installed it manually.  Looking at the link you sent me I"m not sure in that zip file what I should run.  I read the Readme file but doesn't really explain much.  Thanks

Are they all running Windows Xp?

I'm just upgrading desktops that are running Windows XP.  Only one machine wouldnt upgrade nicely like all the others.  They all should be configured the same as far as I know. So that's why I don't know why it wont install..  I wish I could now go back to just the Microsoft  Forefront but when Microsoft endpoint tried to install it removed it.  Here at our school they no longer have the Forefront on the main Tech server for me to reinstall and I need to put some type of virus software on it.
