Hi! I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro from Windows 8 Pro. Now I am having several problems with desktop aplications.

Explorer.exe does not work, it hangs and no error display. Just a blank screen then the desktop resets.

Excel, Word and Powerpoint 2010 crashes with a "<program> stopped working due to a problem with Windows..." - But works fine on "Safemode"

Sony Xperia "Media Go" app, hangs no error.

Autodesk Autocad 2014, Inventor 2014 and DWGTrueView 2014 show a "problem with SidebySide configuration" and asks to use sxstrace. Which I tried, but I always get an error and cannot seem to get the "sxstrace Trace -logfile:mylog.txt" command to work properly

Skype crashes, says "Stopped working..."

Apparently that is all the problems.

Most Apps in "Metro" seem to work including Skype, except for "File Explorer Type" apps. When I try to use these and try to browse my folders in my "C:" drive, the App returns like there aren't ant files or folders.

What to do? where do I start to fix all these problems?

According to your description, I think it caused by driver.

I suggest you update all the driver to the latest version, and reboot your system.

If the issue persists, I suggest you try the clean boot mode to test it.

If the issue doesnt appear, you can determine which one can be the cause by using dichotomy in MSconfig. Checking on half of Non-Microsoft service and restart, determining which half of the services cause the issue and repeating to check half of the problematic half services.

Meanwhile, try to reinstall these software to test it, and repair office software.
