Upgrade from windows 7 home premium OEM (Hewlett Packard) to windows 7 professional from retail disks.
I am trying to up-grade my operating system from Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium (OEM Hewlett Packard) which was pre-installed in my new computer, to Windows 7 64-bit Professional, from the full retail Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit disk. I have tried a completely clean install in a freshly formatted new partition. The install goes fine, but most of my hardware cannot find suitable drivers. I have perused the various threads which mention this sort of problem and appreciate that perhaps some of the hardware included by Hewlett Packard may only work with Hewlett Packard provided drivers. As the complete OEM provided operating system is still on my machine (I can dual boot between the Home (OEM) and Professional (full retail edition) without problems), I should surely be able to find appropriate drivers for the Professional operating system by looking in the right place for them in the OEM Windows folders. I have tried a few obvious places without success. Could anyone point me in the right direction. Note that there are drivers in the OEM system for all my hardware. Many thanks Henry C. ManganHenry C. It may be possible. It's probably more straightforward to download them from www.hp.com, though.

Thanks bobkn I had done a search as suggested without coming across anything useful. On your suggestion I went back to the HP website and found a complete set of drivers for my machine. It took me about two hours to download them all, but any I am now in business with win 7 Professional. Once again, many thanks. HenryHenry C. Mangan

The best solution is to visit the HP website at the following web address http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html and search for updated drivers and softwares for your PC. Don't forget to bookmark the web page related to your PC! I also suggest you tu use two useful tools provided by HP: HP Softpaq Download Manager (http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/cache/509658-0-0-225-121.html) and HP Support Assistant (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=it&lc=en&dlc=us&softwareitem=ob-78032-1).
