What is the model of your computer and network adapter? After choosing "Update driver", which option did you select, search on Internet or locally? If no available driver is detected, you need to determine the update. Also I suggest that you temporary disable or remove the anti-virus program and check the result again.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hi, The issue occurs if the network adapter driver is not installed properly when you try to upgrade it. Another possible cause is the anti-virus or firewall blocks the network access because they thought that the access is from a unsafe program. I suggest that you temporary disable or uninstall the anti-virus and firewall. Then check the result. If the issue persists, please download the latest driver from Gigabit website. Then, remove the existed driver from "Program and Features" and "Device Manager". After removing, reinstall the new driver. From this forum we also found that there are several users encounter same problem. It seems that this driver update is not compatible with all RTL8168C/8111C Family adapters. If the issue persists after you try the above suggestions, we could consider that the issue is caused by the driver update. In this case, please do not install the update, just work with the current version. Hope that Realtek will release Windows 7 compatible driver and we may included it in Windows Update then. The following thread may be referred. Update for Realtek RTL8168C-8111C (NDIS 6.20) in Windows Update makes the network disappearArthur Xie - MSFT
