Updating a custom-made Windows image - in Audit Mode?

Hi

I'm planing to create a Windows Image for Offline Deployment. With Windows 7 I'd update it in Audit Mode (CTRL+Shift+F3 from OOBE) - but this is not working for Windows 8.1 (compare https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/afc7f693-f742-402f-b513-063989b79c2f/windows-81-enterprise-windows-updates?forum=w8itproinstall)

So now I'm wondering if I should complete OOBE and sysprep the system from non-audit mode or if I should use the Windows Update PowerShell Module (https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/2d191bcd-3308-4edd-9de2-88dff796b0bc) while in Audit mode to update Windows to the most up-to-date state?

What are advantages and disadvantages of both options?

Thank you
