Updating Windows 7 RC to full licensed
Hi all, maybe this was discussed earlier in the forum but I don't find ;-)When Windows 7 will be published, will it then be possible to license the RC1 to full version?I'm now working more and more with RC1 and migrate more and more data and apps, so it would be very interesting for me to be able to upgrade to the full license. Moreover, RC1 is the Ultimate release, may it be possible to license for eyample a Professional release without need to reinstall?

Probably not, but the exact details of the final release (which haven't been published yet) will determine that. FWIW - I've given up on "upgrade" installations as they usually give more problems than they're worth. My last installation (Win7 RC) was a clean install, but I imported my browser and email stuff using a backup tool - and that's giving me fits right now.- John

catweazle - As you pointed out - we've got the Ultimate version of 7 in the RC release. Dropping it down to Professional or Home Premium is pretty close to impossible without a clean installation. The installer's job is to INSTALL software, not remove it. There IS such a thing as the Anytime Upgrade - where you can go from Home Premium or Professional to a higher version, but you can't go backwards.
