Updates don't complete on shut down -- pc runs over night, is stuck, and has to be manually turned off the next day.
This past week, when I've tried to install updates on shut down, my pc has run over night and was still stuck on the first update (of 2, 3, 5, etc.) in the morning, forcing me to manually turn it off.Up to then, when I've clicked on the Windows security shield to install updates on shut down, that didn't happen. Now, to avoid the problem, I click on the statement, "click here to turn off without installing updates" instead.I've run updates and scans using AVG Free, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Advanced SystemCare, and don't currently detect any malware (although I know this freeware is very limited and won't catch everything). I don't know if the following issues are related, but here are some other things to note:- Norton Internet Security isn't completely uninstalled. The program doesn't display any file size, but I can't remove it in Windows because of a missing file.- A box with an alert saying, "Symantec Script Blocking has prevented a script action that could be harmful to you" had popped up each time I logged on during the past week until yesterday. (Is the alert generated by the Norton IS?)- A desktop shortcut icon suddenly appeared on my desktop around a week ago. I didn't create it, and can't delete it. I would certainly appreciate any feedback!2 people need an answerI do too
