Updated: Windows Update Error 8007000D in Windows 7 RC 64 Bit
I clean installed Windows 7 RC Build 7100 on a Dell E6500 laptop. After adding the device to our domain (we have a special OU for Win 7/Vista machines) I updated with windows update from our configuredWSUS server. Everything worked fine, i got updates from internal WSUS and rebooted. Later, I went home and took the laptop with me. I installed Office 2007 and several other apps including Java, flash, shockwave... etc. I ran windows update after installing office to get the office updates. I left that run over night and that worked and installed all the updates when I turned it on this morning. After coming back into work today, I put the machine back onto our internal network. Now running windows update from our configured WSUS servers.... just clicking the "check for updates button" gives error 8007000D. I've done extensive searching around... looking for others that have had this problem. I've tried rebooting, starting/stopping the wuauserv and bits services, deleting the contents of the softwaredistribution/downloads folder and restarting the services, I've tried trolling around the Local Machine and Current User registry entries around windows update, but any key that looks suspicious is set to 0 already. I've tried the simple stuff, too. Restarting the computer, checking device manager, etc. I have no other items that are calling attention to them, in other words, no errors and windows isnt bugging me about anything... just this problem alone. So, I just tried running windows update again, but instead of choosing the normal option of using our internal WSUS servers,I chose to run winupdate online. It actually works that way... I'm getting a couple of updates now. I'll reboot after this and try to update normally against our WSUS servers. I'll see if the error pops up again. However, I'll also look at our WSUS setup and make sure that's functioning. As of right now, no one else in our 8000+ workstation environment is complaining. I'm not the only copy of Win 7 RC on the domain, I think we have 3 now.Ben

The updates from the internet version of windows update installed properly and I rebooted the computer. After rebooting, I checked windows update and I displayed the message about having all the recent updates. When I chose the "check updates" option, it went back to the Error 8007000D message. When I check online, it gives no error. Please advise!!! Thanks!Ben
