Update Keep auto downloading and installing the same update.
Inoticed over the last few days the updater was downloading and installing Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB936181) every time log turn of my pc. Was wonder if any one can tell me why or tell me how to stop this problem.

Hi thanks for your reply i check'd the list and it doesnt seem to be installed so i've manualy downloaded it but every time i try run it or others surgested in related topics i get the error opening installation log file. verify that the specific loaction exist and is writable. i have also tried to delete the msxml4.dll file but vista won let me change any thing from this directory any further help would be great apreicated. as a side note since doig this the auto downloader fails to install KB936181 but still keep telling me it needs to update.

Hi, Please run services.msc command and then stop the automatic update service. Then, try rename the softwaredistribution folder and start the automaic update service to see if it works. If the update still re-offers, please reproduce this problem and use following troubleshooting tool to see if any files or regisry is blocked: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx Hope it helps.

Used the 'Unlocker' tool and was able to delete it. still, I have this issue sinceKB951847 for framework 3.5 was trying to install.After that, updates for Defender also failed.
