Update KB963660 unable to successfully complete
My overall impression with Windows 7 is WOW. While it may not seem to be a big difference to some but for me it is a huge leap ahead of Vista. As many of said... this is what Vista SHOULD have been.I'm runningit on an older Pentium 4 3.00Ghz system with an ATI AGP graphics card and am very pleased with theperformance. On a modern updated hardware configWindows 7must be like XP was when I first put it on this machine several years ago. I am very impressed with the performance improvements. Especially theHomeGroup networking features. They JUST WORK. No difficulties trying to get other local network devices to share resources and see each other. VERY NICE.The only problem I have is the current update KB9636660 as it just won't complete and theHelp article refers to an issue with Office 2003....which is not on this machine. SO I think those error codes and respective articles need a bit of scrubbing.Has anyone else had issue with UPDATE KB9636660? Thanks,-Stephen

I have Windows 7 beta build 7000 - 64 bit - same issue. I finally hid the update. I'd be anxious to see if there is a remedy for the situation. I have Office 2007 Professional installed. This is the only update issue I have had. Windows 7 is a great OS IMO.

I have a 64 bit laptop at my office and a 32 bit desktop at home both took the update with no problems. It says something about the expire date was March 15 and the update changed it to later concerning dvd, audio, and Video playback. If you check out the link above and figure it out please let us know in case someone else has the same problem and by the way I have Office 2007 installed also but can't see where that is suppose to have anything to do with this. "According to the write up. chamblisstom@bellsouth.net

FWIW - When I set up the Media player initially, I unchecked all the options to let it connect to the internet. This was done because of some reported issue at the time. I have since gone back and changed what I could. I have no idea if this relates to the update failure or not.

I don't know for sure but if you go thru the media player and update it all first with the settings correctly ( as I at one time had problems with Media Guide and kept trying until it now works "nothing to do w/ windows7" before that) after all that you might try the update again. Do let us know "Maybe one of the microsoft tech's will let you know" Thanks chamblisstom@bellsouth.net

I re-tried the update after re-setting the Media Player - no luck. Re-hid update and moving on :-)
