You should resolved it follow instructions provided http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/ca38bc11-8468-4c15-aa62-8497ed65c134?prof=required It was a bit more detailed than the posts here. And it advised to completely remove the .net framework with the utility. Then Reinstall .NET Framework Version 2.0, 3.5 and their updates. This sould work 4 UDucDive

Yes and No - Seems it is a bit different with Windows 7 - Here's what worked for me and what I found out along the way.1. Use the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool: http://windowsuu.com/tools/detfx_cleanup_tool.zip - This only allowed me to cleanup 1.0 and 1.1 - 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5 didn't show up, see next step2. Used Windows features on or off to turn off .NET 3.5 Framework3. Rebooted4. Ran .NET 1.1 via dotnetfx.exe right-click and select 'Run as administrator'5. Reboot6. Ran .NET SP1 via NDP1.1sp1-KB867460_x86.exe right-click and select 'Run as administrator'7. RebootNOTE: Both the .NET 1.1 installs above will prompt you with a msg about known issues with IIS service. I selected the option to just continue.8. Your shouldn't need to run .NET 2.0 via Netfx64.exe - I got Error: Product already installed. Note it wasn't an option to cleanup with the tool.9. Ran .NET 3.0 via dotnetfx3_64.exe right-click and select 'Run as administrator'10. Reboot11. Ran .NET 3.5 SP1 via dotnetfx35.exe right-click and select 'Run as administrator'NOTE: 3.0 and/or 3.5 told me I couldn't install instead use 'Windows features on or off' to turn on .NET 3.5 Framework. I don't remember which one told me that it was getting late last night.12. RebootEverything install and then I was able to go back to Windows Update and install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB953297)I do like the reboot speed of Win7! What a change when fixing a problem. I'm just moving up from XP and enjoying the speed, UI and closeness of help. Linking error codes and help steps (links) what a great move when one is frustrated! That's coming from someone that use to work in MS-PSS.... My times have changed.... LOLAll the.NET files were downloaded from:
