Update KB2454826 Fails to Install
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I went to install the update KB2454826 by way of windows update, and I got a "failed to install" error. It specifically gave me: "WindowsUpdate_80073712" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" I went and manually downloaded this update to install it myself, and the entire install process went as normal until the end, and it gave me a fail install error again. I rebooted my computer between each attempt. Can anyone provide for me some information on how to correct this? Thank you.

That module is for very old program support. You should not need to use it My MVP is for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT, and I am getting increasingly good with Visual Studio. Developer | Windows IT | Chess | Economics | Hardcore Games | Vegan Advocate | PC Reviews

the WinSxs folder is damaged. Please start the command prompt (cmd.exe) with admin rights [1] and run sfc [2]: sfc.exe /scannow Is it able to find and repair broken files (create the txt file shown under [2] and look if all files are restored)? If not, replace the DLL with the file from your DVD [3]. Also try the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows [4]. Are you now able to install the updates? If not, please run the Windows Explorer and go to the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" and copy all files to your document folder (otherwise you can't upload it), zip all files into 1 ZIP and upload the zip to your SkyDrive [5] and post a link here. best regards André [1] http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-do-I-run-an-application-once-with-a-full-administrator-access-token [2] http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 [3] http://blog.nirsoft.net/2009/09/17/how-to-extract-missing-system-files-from-the-dvd-of-windows-7vista/ [4] http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 [5] http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65 "A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

I've followed all the instructions except I can't resolve the ambiguity in "replace the DLL." Which DLL must be replaced? I've a bit of a variation. IE 9 won't install because it can't find KB2454826. KB2454826 won't install because Windows Update managed to install something under that name, but can't uninstall it. So Windows7 x64 is schizophrenic: part of it thinks KB... is installed, and another part disagrees. It's not just an IE 9 problem, because I'm getting unexpected freezes as well.

I've read more carefully all five steps and completed them. Even so, I cannot update. Here is the link to files in my Logs\CBS folder: https://cid-4ae9604531dfd24b.skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?resid=4AE9604531DFD24B!104&authkey=9QSdAhWVyO4%24. Thank you for your help. jwglamour
