Unidentified network after having installed win vista sp2
Hi everyone I have win vista 32 bit and I've installed win vista sp2 recently (through microsoft update) and after that I was not able to connect to the network i used to connect to which is an unsecured one. It says unidentified network, I tried to change setting tcp/ip, I enterend ip addresses myself but nothing changed..same negative results. I succeeded to connect 2 days ago (had no problem) but in the middle of the day it went by itsself and i found my self again with an identified network these are the settings when i am connected 'normally' Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : wind.it Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : wind.it Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1A-73-EC-18-01 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::fd02:bc29:9c0:71b1%10(Preferred) IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : (Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.248.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 22 October 2010 17:33:38 Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 22 October 2010 18:33:38 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 23.218.64.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 23.218.65.144 DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 234887795 DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : 00-01-00-01-10-09-CD-85-00-1E-EC-15-9C-86 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 62.101.93.101 83.103.25.250 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1E-EC-15-9C-86 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : isatap.sgt.cpqcorp.net Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : wind.it Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 10: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : 6TO4 Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 11: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 02-00-54-55-4E-01 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2001:0:4137:9e76:2c07:1c7:a2d6:4424(Prefe rred) Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::2c07:1c7:a2d6:4424%11(Preferred) Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 16: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : isatap.{F26F8B94-1DCC-4294-9182-367A04051 9F3} Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 17: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : wind.it Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft 6to4 Adapter #2 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2002:17da:4193::17da:4193(Preferred) Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 2002:c058:6301::c058:6301 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 62.101.93.101 83.103.25.250 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled and when i have that limited connectivity the settings change to Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002] Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. It might simply be a physical connection issue(Since it network becomes unidentified intermittently) i would advice you to try the following steps. it worked for some facing same issue. 1. Unplug the internet cable from the back of your computer. 2. Unplug the power cord form the back of your PC. 3. Unplug the power cord from your Router (wait 30 seconds). 4. Plug everything back in starting with the internet cable, power cord, and finally the power cord for the Router.Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

In that case check your antivirus software firewall settings.it might be set to be disabled for unsecured network and allow for others.just temporarily turn the firewall off and see.Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

Hi, In addition to drtunababa's suggestion, I would suggest go to the wireless card manufacture's download center and check if there is any update driver for it.
