Unidentified Network problem after last Vista update
Hallo,I hope that someone will be able to help with this problem.I run Vista Ultimate SP1 on a computer with an Envidia nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard with no major issues since several months. I use one of the two network adapters on the motherboard.Yesterday I installed an automatic Vista update.After rebooting I have been unable to get my network connections back. Both adapters default to the "Unidentified Network" after attempting to request an IP address by DHCP.The result of executing "ipconfig/all" is===============================================================Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Minas-Tirith Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : NoEthernet adapter Local Area Connection 2: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller #2 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-04-4B-16-84-6B DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : YesEthernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-04-4B-16-84-6A DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::c1e7:b66d:4e30:c227%12(Preferred) Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.194.39(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1 fec0:0:0:ffff::2%1 fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : EnabledTunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : isatap.{09C75F36-4818-4101-A749-E1AE1D151AA2} Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : YesTunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : isatap.{08BDFA2A-80F1-4F5E-BDAA-E7EE2636867D} Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : YesTunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 9: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 02-00-54-55-4E-01 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes===============================================================the result of executing "route print" is==========================================================================================================================================Interface List14 ...00 04 4b 16 84 6b ...... Hi I also have a networking issue after installing Vista Updates today. Network connects but does not see the internet. If I run "ping (local IP)" or "ping www.yahoo.com" I get general error repeated 4 times then the normal ping report with 100% packet loss. I have since tried unistalling the updates which did not help. Also uninstalled network driver for wireless and reinstall which also did not help. Also same issues occurs with the CAT5 connection, which makes me think its not a driver issue more a software issue. Currently in the proccess of fiddling with norton 360 after a policy-specific error that I am now getting, will report back on that soon.

Issue Fixed tried replacing FWPUCLNT.DLL from the windows\system32 directory as per another forums advice after unistalling PC Anywhere as it replaces it with and incorrect version. This didnot help. Ended up using Norton Removal Tool to remove 360, this did not fix it at first but after reinstalling the network drivers and adding the wirless network again internet then reconected. Hope this information helps others. Seems to be the main problem was an Issue with norton software, as the windows updates restart coinsided with the norton restart.
