Unidentified Network - windows 7 x64 Professional
After a reboot, my network goes to a "unidentified network" state, I am using an IPv4 addressing, it does work if I click on the validate network for a while. I search through the forums and it seems this is an issue but no solutions to this problem. Yesterday I did apply the latest patches to my system.Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm no expert, but as far as I can tell "unidentified network" isn't actually an error. It just means Windows 7 is seeing a LAN there. Microsoft didn't provide a way to name LANs, so it just refers to them an "unidentified network". But by itself that doesn't mean there's any error. Our LAN has shown up that way under Vista and Windows 7, but works fine.Denise Moore ---- 2 HP a1730n Pavillion Desktops, AMD 64 X 2 5000+/5600+, 3072/2048 800MHz DDR2, 4 GB ReadyBoost, 320 GB HDD, Nvidia 6150LE, D-Link DGE-530T NIC, D-Link Green DGS-1005B router, VersaExpress ADSL, Win 7 Home Premium

Hi, Please check if you have got a valid IP address and if you can access your network resources, such as accessing the router or Internet. If not, please try the following: 1. Update your NIC driver. 2. Please try the following method: Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers 3. Please also ensure your routers firmware is up-to-date. If the issue persists, please also run ipconfig /all and paste the results to this thread. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT

Nicholas - The kb article you linked to specifically states that the issue does not apply to win7. I attempted it anyway and the issue still seems to be present on my machine.
