Unexpected startups on domain computers at night
Computers on our network have been unexpectedly starting at night at the same time. A few that do not power on will then shutdown immediately after the user logs on in the morning. then it will log in normal the second time. This has only been happening a few weeks and I have not found yet anything specific in the Event logs or entries in the Task Schedule to account for it. I think it could be related to either Microsoft updates (we have a WSUS server) or Kaspersky antivirus updates or maybe server tasks, but again have not found it. When I talked to another IT tech on the same domain (but other office and WSUS and Kaspersky servers), he said he did not see this happening on their machines. Has anyone else seen this just recently or have suggestions how to further track down the cause of this?

look on the settings for the network card itself through device manager and make sure the the magic wake up packet is disabled. right click on your LAN in network connections > go to configure > advanced tab. Then find the "Wake on Magic Packet" setting and the other wake settings and disable them.

Hi, Please double check whether there are any updates or task Schedule applied. Meanwhile, I suggest you disjoin the domain to check whether this is affected by the domain settings. Regards, Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
