However, it still lists as read only, and even if I change it, after it's done setting it to not-read-only, it still is! I'm at my wits end, anyone have a solution? I've looked at http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/25/how-to-take-ownership-and-grant-permissions-in-windows-vista/ and I've tried: http://blogs.msdn.com/tims/archive/2006/09/20/763275.aspx Disabling the UAC thing

Ah, I should have mentioned it's on the 64 bit 7100 version. My main login is an administrator user. I made a new user and made that user administrator as well. I can do the action on that user, but not on my normal one. Very weird and quite annoying, as it's a hassle to move emails and settings and whatnot to a new user.

Hello Rene,Does the error persist if you run the program as administrator?-Scott

Unable to write to the temp directory in c:\Users\Ren\AppData\Local\Temp Check that you have write access to this directoy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hello Rene, I happened to have the same problem with you, when i trying to install an application, that error appear, but i found myself the solution. it works for me at least, what i do is, i go to that directory, the "Temp" directory folder, and I deleted everything in that folder. leaving that folder blank. after that, there's no problem again in installing my application. well, that's in my case, and it works, i don't know if it would work in your case though :)

Thank you. Start > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup > TICK "TEMPORARY FILES" > Click OK. You can untick the rest if you choose not to clean everything else, "TEMPORARY FILES" is the only one that will solve this issue, **NOT** "Temp INTERNET files". After that it worked perfectly. Just as "cruzo lew" stated, this is just the automated way of doing things. :) For Google purposes...... "unable to write to the temp directory in" "check that you have write access to this directory" Solution| Fixed | "Problem Solved" | Answer | Error "Sony Vegas" "Sony Acid"
